Welcome to my blog in english.
A little introduction is necessary, I believe, for those who don´t know me yet.
My name is Diego, I´m 34 years old and I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I live my own apartment in Copacabana for 4 years now. I live by myself.
I have a degree in journalism, one in publicity/advertising (both of a great/well-known university in Brazil, UFRJ) and another one in acting.
I´m a well- resolved gay guy and all of my imediate family knows about my orientation (I refuse to say "choice"). I told them all when I was 19. (I´m so relieved for having doing that so soon in my life.)
I work out at Body Tech, a great gym. I run. I take care of myself. I avoid sugar, soda, coffee. I don´t smoke. I don´t drink. (no beer for me, thanks!). I sleep well. But I like cake. And dessert. And juice. There´s always juice on my fridge.
I had four boyfriends in all my life (till now), Paulo, Felipe, Erich e Eduardo, but it´s been a while since I dated somebody seriously.The last one, Eduardo, kind of damaged me a lot emotionally, so I closed myself for a long time. Pure fear, I know. I´m in the process of reopening my heart again.
I love the english language. Although my father (who passed away 15 years ago) was an english teacher, we were never close (it´s almost classic for a gay guy, I know), but I guess I inherited the facility (the easy way?) with the language. Even so, my english is not a 100% perfect, of course, so if I make any kind of mistake here, please feel free to point them out to me, alright?)
I already have a blog in portuguese (www.blogdodondiego.blogspot.com), with 100 followers and a lot of debate going on. My intention here is to translate to english the hot topics regarding gay life (and life in general) that I post there. Of course, sometimes I post about tv shows, perfume, movies, actors, ads and campaigns, so the blog doesn´t get to intense, too cerebral. It all depends on my mood of the day.
I will end this brief intro with the objective message of New Year´s I posted on my blog in portuguese.
I posted the ad of Davidoff´s perfume "Adventure" (filmed in Brazil, BTW, in Santa Catarina, in 2007) and wrote my wishes to all of you in 2011 on a few sentences.
The idea was that a lot of people (worldwide) see their lives passing them by and do nothing about it, expecting others to move for them or some things in the world to happen, so that only THEN they can do something. Davidoff´s ad to me was this metaphor of movement, of action, that YOU have to do something, because it´s only YOU who can really motivate yourself.
The sentence said by McGregor, "I saw my life in a whole new light", sums it up for me. That´s the message I wanted to pass along to my readers on the beginning of a brand new year: everything can change.
